I’ve written before that I’m in a season of life with a lot of moving pieces. We sold our house, put our possessions in storage, and are living in a rental while we finish building our new place. And that’s only one part of what has felt uncertain for us over the past year.
My last post introduced the idea of creating a five-question Change Story to communicate the what and why of a change you’re leading. The premise is straightforward: Leaders at every level need a coherent story that makes the case for the change.
There’s another equally important consideration:
When is it time to stop seeking input so you can make a decision and act?
I recently added something new to my morning routine. I had been revisiting the Positive Intelligence program that I benefited from so much when I took it during COVID. This time, it just wasn’t working that well.
Instead, I’ve taken to spending a few minutes each morning, around the time of my first sip of coffee, just noticing.
That’s it. Noticing the sunlight against the wall of the house next door. The roses in my neighbor’s yard blowing gently. The sound of cars rushing off to work interspersed with the morning birdsong.
